The traversable wormhole with classical scalar fields
We study the Lorentzian static traversable wormholes coupled to quadratic scalar fields. We also obtain the solutions of the scalar fields and matters in the wormhole background and find that the minimal size of the wormhole should be quantized under the appropriate boundary conditions for the positive nonminimal massive scalar field.
متن کاملSelf-consistent Wormhole Solutions of Semiclassical Gravity
We present the first results of a self-consistent solution of the semiclassical Einstein field equations corresponding to a Lorentzian wormhole coupled to a quantum scalar field. The specific solution presented here represents a wormhole connecting two asymptotically spatially flat regions. In general, the diameter of the wormhole throat, in units of the Planck length, can be arbitrarily large,...
متن کاملHelical Solutions in Scalar Gravity
We construct solutions, for small values of G and angular frequency Ω, of special relativistic scalar gravity coupled to ideally elastic matter which have helical but no stationary or axial symmetry. They correspond to a body without any symmetries in steady rotation around one of its axes of inertia, or two bodies moving on a circle around their center of gravity. Our construction is rigorous,...
متن کاملConformal Continuations and Wormhole Instability in Scalar-tensor Gravity
We study the stability of static, spherically symmetric, traversable wormholes existing due to conformal continuations in a class of scalar-tensor theories with zero scalar field potential (so that Fisher’s well-known scalar-vacuum solution holds in the Einstein conformal frame). Specific examples of such wormholes are those with nonminimally (e.g., conformally) coupled scalar fields. All bound...
متن کاملQuantum field theory constrains traversable wormhole geometries.
Recently a bound on negative energy densities in four-dimensional Minkowski spacetime was derived for a minimally coupled, quantized, massless, scalar field in an arbitrary quantum state. The bound has the form of an uncertainty principle-type constraint on the magnitude and duration of the negative energy density seen by a timelike geodesic observer. When spacetime is curved and/or has boundar...
